The Cow HerdThe heart of our breeding program is a foundation of females we are proud to build upon and develop herd sires that walk and work out in the field.
These cows are selected for strong maternal traits and performance. They must be sound structured, have a solid udder and milk to raise their calves and a temperament that allows us to work the cattle as a family. |
The Java Cow Family
SKW Java 140C was purchased in 2016 out the Sterling Collection sale from Creeks's Edge Land and Cattle Company. Her first bull calf at side sold in 2018 to Cline Cattle Company for $14,500. We retained ownership in the bull and have numerous progeny from of this stand out sire.
KS Java 203F, a female we thought enough of to use as 4-H and CCYA project in 2019 and raised pick of the herd HSK Lonestar 5L, working at HEJ Charolais. In 2023, HKS Java 35K sold at the Superstar Sale to Don Swiston for $27,000.00 |
The Patsy Cow Family
HKS Patsy 226A is a 2020 Gold Star Dam. This cow family dates back to one of the original Charolais cow families on our operation all the back to 1968.
The strong powerful females are no miss cows. Patsy entered the donor program in 2020 and was flushed to Pleasant Dawn Connection 195G. HKS 32G - Ghostrider was our highselling bull in 2020, selling to Thistle Ridge Ranch at Medicine Hat AB, for $12,000. Look for his full brother in our 2021 Bull Offering. |
The Aster Cow Family
The Aster cow family is highly maternal, producing sound consistent progeny with excellent udders and are beautiful easy fleshing females.
HKS Aster 28C was our high selling Charolais Female in our 2016 Sharing the Herd Volume II sale to Springside Farms. HKS Aster 167F was a successful junior project in 2019 with Elise using this eye catching female for her 4-H and CCYA project. HKS 161G was shown as Matthew's 4-H project for 2020. |
The Lois Cow Family
Merit Lois 8819 was purchased our Merit's dispersal in 2009. The Lois family has produced a strong set of imporessive bulls going to numerous purered and commerical operations.
HKS 166B Boulder was sold to Odden Charolais Ranch in South Dakota in 2015 for $12,000. Lois 8819 was flushed to Elder's Banadero 321B, Cedardale Zeal 125Z and Silverstream Geddes |
The Harmony/Blossom Family
This great cow family going back to the 85R cow has produced strong, sound females and powerhouse bulls over the year. It's also the cow family that is the source of all the buffy coloured progeny in our herd. HKS 253Y Coach was home raised herd sire producer many great females including HKS Aster 197A.
